Page Street San FranciscoFebruary 7, 2001

The morning started out at 6:30 am to sirens smoke and flashing lights. Only 5 houses away from FireCandy, on the block between Central and Lyon on Page street a 5 alarm fire Raged to neighbors' horror. By 6:50 am the street was packed with onlookers. The fire started in a newly renovated Victorian home and soon spread to 4 more houses.

17 people loose their home, as these houses are multi units. 172 fire fighters were at the scene, 2 fire fighters were treated for smoke inhalation, but no one else was hurt. The rest of the day things seemed calm.

At 9:00 PM Jason Pearce of FireCandy Multimedia heard many loud thumping type noises, ready to dismiss these irritations, Lucky the household "guardog" was quick to alarm him of something out of place.

Upon inspection it was found that a crazed man suspected to be under the influence of drugs was atop the roof of Firecandy. The man soon jumped to a neighboring roof - "Baby Bear's House", where he perched on the crown. Jason called out to the man and asked him what he was doing. " I think I am being chased" replied the man. Jason immediately called San Francisco Police. 15 minutes later the police showed up and tried to access the roof.

Soon many police cars showed up as well as the fire dept. and a ambulances, which were certainly no strangers to the scene. The supposed drug crazed man ran from roof top to roof top eventually falling 2 stories to the ground. Taken into custody and away in one of the ambulances, the man seemed to have suffered non-life threatning injuries....his head..who knows?

As far as the home owners all had Fire insurance and have now rebuilt.
